URBAN FARMING

Programming for DeKalb County’s E.M.B.A.R.C. Community Youth Farm will include urban farming, which can be defined as growing or producing food in a city or heavily populated town or municipality. Often confused with community gardening, homesteading or subsistence farming, urban farming actually assumes a level of commerce through the growing of product to be sold, as opposed to being grown for personal consumption or sharing. Typically, there is no such commercial activity in community gardening.

Food will be sold through the onsite country market store and a weekly farmers market as well as given to local soup kitchens, churches and other non-profit organizations.
